Giving Tech a Second Life: We Return to School on Wheels

Six years ago, our team rolled up its sleeves to wipe, refurbish, and box dozens of computers for kids who needed them. This June, we did it again.

In partnership with Mesa Water District, T2 Group donated over 60 refurbished laptops to School on Wheels, the nonprofit that provides free one-on-one tutoring to K-12 children experiencing homelessness across six Southern California counties. Mesa Water provided the professional-quality devices. Our team did what we do best: securely wiping each machine, restoring it to like-new condition, and prepping, boxing, and delivering every unit ready to use.

The significance of this issue cannot be overstated. According to School on Wheels' latest impact report, only 19% of children experiencing homelessness have access to a computer. For a student trying to keep up with schoolwork from a shelter or a motel room, a reliable laptop is not a luxury. It is the difference between connecting with a tutor and falling further behind.

This is the second time we have teamed up with Mesa Water on a donation like this, and that continuity is the point. Closing the digital divide is not a one-time event. It is a commitment we are glad to keep returning to.
